Welcome Back, We hope you all had a fabulous Spring Break.  We are now into the final stretch with a lot of upcoming events and activities.  Please read the blog every week to find out about them.

Thank you to Mr. Ben-Sira, Mr. Linkhart and Mrs. Wunder for fabulous
Palio productions.  It was so much fun to see all the alums come back and participate in the shows.  There are many Palio pictures at the end of the blog.

FOURTH GRADERS GO TO SPRINGFIELD!
On Thursday and Friday of this week, our Fourth Graders will travel to Springfield IL, our state capital, as part of their study of Illinois history. There are a lot of interesting sites there including the Lincoln Museum. I will be accompanying them, so if you need something, please know I will be gone both of those days.

ISACS ACCREDITATION TEAM HERE SUNDAY, APRIL 10-WEDNESDAY APRIL 13
All independent Schools are accredited through ISACS, Independent School Association of the Central States.  It is a lengthy process.  As a school we created a self-study for every department of the school where we listed our strengths, challenges, and plans and priorities.  We also updated all our curriculum.  On April 10, a team of ten of our peers from other independent schools will descend on the school and look and talk to all of us.  They then will write reports to help us grow and accredit the school.  Of all the accreditations that schools go through it is the most rigorous. I have been through it many times, both at the school and serving on teams.  It is a wonderful process.

LOWER SCHOOL MUSICAL, THURSDAY APRIL 28 for Grades 1-4.  The musical this year is Willie Wonka with the fourth graders as the stars!

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION WEEKEND IS MAY 13, 14 AND 15TH.  Please join us for the Party of the Century as Roycemore turns 100 years old. From Friday May 13-Sunday May 15, we will provide a variety of exciting activities including our fabulous party at the House of Blues, alumni reception, picnic and tours of our old building at 640 Lincoln Street, rooftop tickets to a Cubs game and much more. All information is available on our website at www.roycemoreschool.org/centennial  We hope you will all come.  It looks like it will be lots of fun and you will be supporting our school!

ROYCEMORE SPIRIT STORE: TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS 3:30-4:30 PM
The Upper School Student Government has opened a Roycemore Spirit Store.  Open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30PM, please come and peruse our Roycemore spirit gear, with youth and adult sizes available.  Location may change, but can primarily be found in the main lobby by the MPR or in the PE foyer.

There is still room in both DISCOVERY UNLIMITED AND CAMP. Because the NU Center For Talent Development will be using our building this summer, Discovery will take place the first two weeks after school is out, June 13-24.
A full description of the Discovery and Camp offerings are at http://www.roycemoreschool.org/summer   You will also find a link for online registration.

Discovery is starting a week before camp this year.  Therefore we will be offering an Extended Day Program until 3:00 p.m. for those of you who need childcare for the first week.  The children will be able to cycle into camp as usual for the second week, so we will be having childcare until our usual 6:00 for that week.

PICTURES THIS WEEK:
1. The alums participate in Palio.  When Palio first started one of the activities was balancing books on heads for posture.

   2. Our youngest students started the festivities with Jr. Palio on Wednesday.

3.  Lower School Palio for our First-Fourth Graders started the Friday evening productions.

4.  One of the most exciting activities at Roycemore is our Dance Tumbling Productions under the direction of Mrs. Wunder.  The students  begin learning all the techniques and perform for the first time in Third Grade.
