Thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us for a really fun  morning.  (See pictures at the bottom of the blog.)

I am repeating this from last week's blog as we had a lot of children come to school with no boots or snow pants last week after the snow.

With the cold weather upon us and the first snow of the season, please make sure your children have the proper clothes for recess!  They need jackets, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots!! Scarves are optional! We go out every day that the temperature is above 20 degrees and windchill in double digits.  Snow does not deter us; in fact we love it!!
(See more pictures at the end of the blog.)

SPIRIT WEEKS MONDAY NOVEMBER 30-FRIDAY DECEMBER 4
This is a really fun week where everyone shows their school spirit.  Everyone participates, from PK through Grade 12.

PUT THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10 ON YOUR CALENDAR!  IT IS WINTER PROGRAM!
All children in Grades 1-4 will be participating in singing.  The Third and Fourth Graders will join the Middle and Upper School in dance-tumbling.  It is always a wonderful show and a great Roycemore tradition.  We hope to see you all there.

HOUR OF CODE FAMILY CELEBRATION FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11
The Hour of Code is a week-long, global effort to get kids to learn about computer programming, an essential 21st Century skill.  This year Hour of Code Week is December 7-13.  Just like last year, Roycemore will participate in a few ways.  Most of our students, in all grade levels, will complete coding lessons during class throughout the week.  The week will end with our 2nd annual Family Coding Celebration.  This fun family event will take place Friday, December 11, from 3:15-5:15 pm in the MPR.  For more information or to RSVP for the Celebration, please visit  roycemorehourofcode.weebly.com/.

A TIME OF GIVING
Although we promote community service all year long, this is the time of year that the Roycemore community does many things to contribute to the greater community around us.

1. NON-PERISHABLE FOOD DRIVE FOR THE NILESS TOWNSHIP FOOD PANTRY, FRIDAY 11/20 THROUGH WEDNESDAY 12/9

2. TOYS-FOR TOTS COLLECTION MONDAY 11/3O THROUGH FRIDAY 12/11

3. PROJECT LINUS FRIDAY 12/18 (donations needed by 12/17)
As part of our Wassail celebration, all members of the Roycemore community (parents welcome) will work together to create fleece blankets for Project Linus.  If you can donate two yards of fleece, it would be appreciated.

(More information about each is in a flyer attached to the email accompanying the blog.)

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT COMES TO LOWER SCHOOL
When you hear your children talking about different aspects of economics, you will know that Junior Achievement has come to their classrooms.  Volunteers from major corporations and from Northwestern University are giving of their time to come into classrooms and talk about the basics of economics to the children in a very fun, hands-on, but informative way.  Look at the pictures at the bottom of this blog to see the first graders creating a donut business.
